The World’s 10 Best Hot Sauces

Posted March 1st, 2016 by Admin    No Comments

Newsflash hot sauce fans: you don’t actually like the taste, you’re just addicted to the endorphins your body releases when you inflect massive pain on your tongue by bathing it in chilli. It’s true.

But that’s ok. Just like comparing which cocktail is the best (spoiler, the one with the most alcohol), let’s now embark on the conceited comparison of hot sauces, pretending they all taste different, but secretly knowing we’re just junkies looking for an endorphin fix.

  1. Encona Original Hot Pepper Sauce

encora

For value alone, Encona original Hot Pepper Sauce is pretty much unbeatable. It’s versatile, inexpensive, and comes in a slick, compact bottle that fits neatly in your bag for those Formation moments.

  1. Texas Pete

The Dixie Pig BBQ stand in Winston-Salem isn’t just the home of some delicious BBQ street food, it’s also the home of Texas Pete hot sauce.

  1. Huy Fong Chili Garlic

Hot sauce in a skull. Enough said.

  1. Huy Fong Sriracha

Another Huy Fong hot sauce makes our list with the Huy Fong Sriracha. Put it on a banana – go on, we dare ya! You won’t regret it, it’s definitely a thing.

  1. Crystal

If you want authentic Louisiana hot sauce, you’d be a fool not to buy Crystal. It’s got a real tanginess that you can’t find in any other hot sauce, so try it out!

  1. Tabasco Original

Are you kidding? Tabasco? No, we’re being deadly serious so shut up. Tabasco is hot, vinegary and delicious. If you don’t like it, you’re rubbish.

  1. Goya Salsita Habanero

goya

Decided to shun the delicious, delicious pork for fish? Bold move, but it could pay off… if you choose this sauce. It’s slightly more citric than the other sauces on our list, so fits perfectly with fish (think of Rick Stein squeezing a lemon on some red mullet and you’ll get it).

  1. Psycho Drops Killer Million

psyco

There’s a lot of hype surrounding the Scoville rating these days, so we couldn’t complete this list without a 1 million scoville extract: the Psycho Drops Killer Million. It comes with a pipette, so you know it’s going to be strong.

0. The Porky’s Homemade Hot Sauce

We couldn’t really write up a list of hot sauces without mentioning our own, could we? It’s full of rich chili flavour, fruity and tangy. Perfecto. Get down to Porky’s and try it out.

Who knows… maybe one day we’ll make some for you to take home?
